Student Wilderness Justice Community Program

Renewal in the Wilderness will facilitate wilderness programming for two cohorts (one year each) of first and second year college students from Maine colleges. Each cohort will be exposed to a variety of public lands in Maine through guided trips, discuss issues of environmental justice, learn wilderness-based practices of well-being, and develop social networks beyond their own college. The main goal of the program is to expose students to the value of wilderness and public engagement. The program begins with collaboration between key university stakeholders in the summer of 2018 and extends through 2020. Current activities (listed below) may change depending on grant funding. Please check back in June 2018 for updates.
