West Branch of the Penobscot River

West Branch of the Penobscot River

August 2-5, 2018

A great trip for bird watching and moose spotting, this 4-day, 3-night canoe trip will offer a rejuvenating pace on one of the most scenic and beautiful rivers in Maine, with well-maintained campsites. We will paddle approximately 17 miles of quick water on the West Branch of the Penobscot River from Lobster Stream to Chesuncook Village on Chesuncook Lake, where views of Mt. Katahdin may be seen. The West Branch of the Penobscot is steeped in Wabanaki lore and literary history; Henry David Thoreau once paddled these waters. Previous paddling experience is not necessary.

Fee: $845 per participant, includes all meals, group gear, and guidance/facilitation for the duration of the trip. (Note: this is the actual cost to us as an organization, but if you really want to go and can't afford it, contact us and we'll figure something out. We're committed to figuring out a way for folks to get the renewal they need.)
