Wellness for Portland Communities of Care Program
Nature is restorative, contributes to personal well-being, and provides fodder for group cohesion. Nature can help mitigate burnout for workers in purpose-driven occupations that may also be high stress. Renewal in the Wilderness offers wellness programs specifically for workers in meaningful, yet stressful work. Some of these professions include health care or social workers, first responders, teachers, and faith community leaders, among others.
Some of our programming for care workers include Wellness Hikes. On Wellness Hikes, we will put our phones on silent, engage in voluntary acts of simplicity, reconnect with our body, use all five senses, engage in discussions focused on meaningful work, and let our sense of time go (your guide will keep track of time). If participating on a lunchtime Wellness Hike, please bring your water bottle and a snack or bag lunch.
Multi-day Trip Scholarships: If grant funded in July 2018, we will be able to offer individual scholarships for any of the Community Trips listed in the calendar or no-cost group retreats.
