West Branch of the Penobscot River Canoe Trip

August 2-5, 2018

A great trip for bird watching and moose spotting, this 4-day, 3-night canoe trip will offer a rejuvenating pace on one of the most scenic and beautiful rivers in Maine, with well-maintained campsites. We will paddle approximately 17 miles of quick water on the West Branch of the Penobscot River from Lobster Stream to Chesuncook Village on Chesuncook Lake, where views of Mt. Katahdin may be seen. The West Branch of the Penobscot is steeped in Wabanaki lore and literary history; Henry David Thoreau once paddled these waters. Previous paddling experience is not necessary.

Fee: $845 or No cost (if grant-funded in June 2018) for invited scholarship participants from our Wellness Hikes organizational partners and care providers. Please fill out a scholarship application at: www.renewalinthewilderness.org/pcc
