Renewal in the Wilderness

"Thanks for being a reflection of the Great Spirit for me to experience."
~ Barbara Oakes

"I've been raving to people about my experience. I wanted to thank you again for following your heart, for responding to God in the wilderness...your response has blessed my life in unexpected ways. The ripples of this trip are continuing to impact my present 'ordinary' life back in suburbia. I felt very cared for and protected by you and your approach to leadership in this context.

"Being a leader myself, I know I'm in the presence of a highly capable leader when it doesn't even occur to me to begin leading...nor did I feel the need to do so! You have a wonderfully peaceful competence which instills the same in your clients along with confidence that everything will be okay.

"You bless me."

Canoe Trip and Kayak Trip Resources

Some of our most profound spiritual moments in the wilderness may occur in quiet moments of solitude. But the journey is meant to be shared, and is often heightened by the help and companionship of others.

At Renewal in the Wilderness, part of our success in bringing life-enhancing and fun excursions to you and to our group is because of the relationships we have with talented and dedicated partners and suppliers.

  • The Northwest Passage
The “Passage” and Renewal in the Wilderness have had a partnership since 2007 for some of our longer trips. They are award-winning guides and outfitters and RITW is proud to count them as a partner in the delivery of excellent experiences.
  • Victories
Victories is a twenty-five year old organization that has helped 6,000+ men live up to the full promise of their lives. RITW helps staff some of their weekends, and they refer men to RITW's trips to help deepen their spiritual connections, whatever their religious affiliations. Victories does truly life-changing work, and we're delighted to be in partnership with them.

The Samaritan Counseling Center is an inter-faith (or no particular faith) counseling center that combines psychology and spirituality to provide a unique and superior foundation for mental health, personal growth, resolving problems and getting more out of life. Their national network is one of the largest providers of professional counseling in the United States. Their Midwestern affiliates have recommended RITW for their clergy clientele.
  • Burning Bush Adventures (BBA)
Rabbi Howard Cohen, based in Bennington, VT, has been sharing the wilderness with Jews from around the country since 1990. He’s a highly skilled wilderness guide and a powerful rabbinic voice for the spiritual connections to be found in wilderness settings. In 2013, RITW and BBA will co-lead a canoe trip in the Adirondacks of upstate New York.
